John Benson, M.A., MFT obtained his Bachelors degree in Psychology from Saint Martin's University, Lacey, WA in May 2003. He is an Argosy University, Eagan, MN Masters degree graduate of Marriage and Family Therapy program. John has been professionally couseling for two years and is currently in his two year licensing phase under the supervision of Dr. Mary Kingston of Oakwood Counseling Services. John is certified in the PREPARE/ENRICH program through Life Innovations and currently counseling premarital couples in preparation for life-long marriages. He is a trained and certified Grief Facilitator of five years and facilitates grief groups through the Minnesota Valley Youth Grief Services, Fairview Ridges Hospital, Burnsville, MN. John retired in February 2003 with 27 years of service in the United States Army.

Groups offer emotional support with care and concern for those who need to address issues through encouragement in expressing thoughts, feelings and experiences. Providing a safe environment and exploration of everyday life issues and coaching, educating, and promoting relational communication and skills, self-growth, awareness and emotional healing.
PREPARE and ENRICH Program
PREPARE: for couples preparing for marriage
ENRICH: for marriage enrichment or marriage counseling
MATE: for couples over the age of 50, getting married, seeking marriage counseling, or going through life transitions such as retirement.
